5-2 Dell PowerEdge Cluster FE100 Installation and Troubleshooting Guide
One of the nodes takes a long
time to join the cluster.
The node-to-node network
has failed due to a cabling or
hardware failure.
Long delays in node-to-node
communications may be
normal.
Check the network cabling. Ensure that
the node-to-node interconnection and the
public local area network (LAN) are con-
nected to the correct network interface
controllers (NICs).
Verify that the nodes can communicate
with each other by running the ping com-
mand from each node to the other node.
Try both the host name and Internet Pro-
tocol (IP) address when using the ping
command.
Clients are dropping off of the
network while the cluster is
failing over.
The service provided by the
recovery group becomes
temporarily unavailable to cli-
ents during fail-over. Clients
may lose their connection if
their attempts to reconnect
to the cluster are too infre-
quent or if they end too
abruptly.
Reconfigure the dropped client to make
longer and more frequent attempts to
reconnect to the cluster.
The Snmp.exe - Entry Point
Not Found dialogue box
appears during system
start-up.
The Windows NT system
errantly reports this condi-
tion if the Simple Network
Management Protocol
(SNMP) service was
installed after Windows NT
and the Service Pack was
installed.
Reapply the Windows NT Service Pack
and any necessary hotfixes and drivers.
See “Installing the Windows NT Service
Pack and SCSI Hotfix” found in Chapter 1
for more information.
