OPERATING FIREPLACE
Continued
This blower has three settings: ON, OFF, and
AUTO. In the ON position, the blower will oper-
ate constantly. In the OFF position, the blower
will not operate. In the AUTO position, the
blower will start when the thermostat senses a
sufcient increase in rebox temperature.
Note: Your replace and thermostat blower
will not turn on and off at the same time. The
replace may run for several minutes before the
blower turns on. After the heater modulates to
the pilot position, the blower will continue to
run. The blower will shut off after the rebox
temperature decreases.
Note: It is safe to operate replace with blower
turned off. However, the blower helps distribute
heated air from the replace.

INSPECTING BURNER
Check pilot ame pattern and burner ame pat-
tern often.
Figure 32 shows a correct pilot ame pattern.
Figure 33 shows an incorrect pilot ame pattern.
The incorrect pilot ame is not properly heating the
thermocouple. This will cause the thermocouple to
cool. When the thermocouple cools, the replace
will shut down.
If pilot ame pattern is incorrect, as shown in
Figure 33
• turn replace off (see To Turn Off Gas to Ap-
pliance, page 20)
• see Troubleshooting, page 23
Note: The pilot ame on natural gas units will
have a slight curve, but ame should be blue and
have no yellow or orange color.

The incorrect burner ame pattern shows sporadic,
irregular ame tipping. The ame should not be
dark or have an orange/reddish tinge.
Note: When using the replace the rst time, the
ame will be orange for approximately one hour
until the log cures.
If burner ame pattern is incorrect, as shown in
Figure 34
• turn replace off (see To Turn Off Gas to Ap-
pliance, page 20)
