Electric frying pan too hot - have had this for a ...

Electric frying pan too hot - have had this for a few years, but, never use it, it burns everything - even on the lowest setting - my husband says it has one temperature, "welding".......interestingly, could not find "electric frying pan" or "electric skillet" in the product type drop down menu, so I entered electric grill (?!?!?)
