Common Core Alignment
Below is a sampling of activities that can
be done with this product. To find out how
this product specifically meets CCSS, visit
www.LearningResources.com.
Writing Addition Sentences
Start with one dice. Roll, add the numbers
together, write the sum on a piece of paper,
and say it aloud. Have children continue
rolling, writing down each sum and saying
it aloud. When children are ready, integrate
another dice to add four different numbers.
Representing Quantities
Have children roll one dice. Instruct them to
draw the quantity on a piece of paper, in the
form of favorite animals, tally marks, shapes
–whatever strikes their imagination! They
should then write the correct number next
to the drawing. Continue rolling to represent
different numbers of objects, advancing
to two dice when children are prepared to
count higher.
More or Less?
Roll one dice. Say aloud the number on
each die (5 and 3, for example), placing the
numbers in the context of a more or less
math sentence: “Five is more than three” or
“Three is less than five.” Now, let children
try! When children gain familiarity with this
concept, progress to equal to number pairings.
